Self Inspection joins the National Auto Auction Association

Following the NAAA World Remarketing Convention in Seattle, the vehicle condition intelligence company joins as an associate member and brings its experience to the industry’s work on consistent condition reporting.
SAN DIEGO, October 15, 2026 - Self Inspection, a vehicle condition intelligence platform, has joined the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) as an associate member. The company joins following the NAAA World Remarketing Convention in Seattle, bringing guided mobile inspections, AI damage detection and expert review to the wholesale auto auction industry. In its welcome announcement, NAAA said its new associate members’ expertise reflects “the continued growth and evolution of the remarketing industry.”
Why condition reports matter at auction
At auction, the condition report is what a buyer bids on. When it misses something the buyer later finds, the sale can end in arbitration. When locations grade similar damage differently, buyers start discounting the grade. NAAA’s Arbitration Policy and its Best Practice Guide for Announcements set the expectations for what sellers disclose, and Self Inspection will use them as the reference point for how its condition reports support auction announcements.

Self Inspection has completed more than one million vehicle inspections for lenders, lessors, dealers, rental companies, fleets and transporters. In one U.S. credit union leasing program, it has delivered more than 43,000 lease-end inspections since late 2021 using guided mobile capture. Off-lease vehicles are a steady source of auction inventory, so a standardized record created when a vehicle is returned is still useful when it is consigned and sold.
“Vehicle history became a standard part of every automotive transaction. Vehicle condition is going the same way,” said Self Inspection’s chief executive officer. “Our job is to be the source of truth for it - one record, one standard, that follows the car for its entire life.”
What comes next
After meeting auction teams in Seattle, Self Inspection will attend NAAA events throughout the year to learn what auction operators and their buyers need from condition reports. Those conversations will shape its work on inspection technology for auction and remarketing workflows. The company looks forward to contributing its knowledge, services and perspective to the association and its members.
