Auto360 already runs a digitally-native rental workflow (their Prohire app handles bookings, sign-in/out and tracking). They wanted to extend that digital posture into vehicle inspection itself — and because they are also an accident-repair business, they understood the value of an independent, insurance-trained repair-cost estimate for claims defensibility. They turned on every Self Inspection capability — visual capture, AI damage detection, and outsourced repair-cost estimation — on day one.

The last manual step in a digital workflow

Auto360 had already digitized booking, sign-in/out and tracking; inspections were the bottleneck holding back end-to-end automation. Manual inspections take 30–45 minutes per vehicle in the industry standard, long-wheelbase vans and Box Vans demand more photo coverage, and paper records broke their otherwise app-driven rental flow. Manual walk-arounds miss low-contrast scuffs, minor dents and edge damage on a daily basis, and on a fleet of 250+ vans those misses compound across thousands of hand-offs. Even though Auto360 runs its own repair workshop, customers and insurers questioned in-house estimates as self-interested, adding back-and-forth to every claim.

Staff follow the same guided photo & video walkaround for every vehicle class, from Mini Van to Box Van, and proprietary compression keeps imagery light while retaining damage-level detail. A computer-vision model trained on 20M+ vehicle images auto-flags damage at hand-off — catching what manual walk-arounds miss — and staff confirm or override every flag. Self Inspection's insurance-trained evaluators generate the repair-cost estimate — an independent figure renters and insurers both trust, even when Auto360 could do the work in-house. Capture, AI assessment and third-party estimate run on every inspection, with no operator opt-out, plugged into Auto360's existing Prohire-driven rental workflow.
